sitesALIVE Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization incorporated in Massachusetts. sitesALIVE! will produce this school program via Newspaper in Education and this website. sitesALIVE! has produced 75 full-semester interactive, live programs for K-12 schools since 1993. Of the 75 programs, 4 have been Rich's voyages. All 71 others have been in partnership with field school organizations, other sailing school ships at sea, rainforest research centers, oceanographic research centers, etc. The purpose of sitesALIVE is to connect the real world to classrooms around the world, to excite and engage students with these adventures, and then they will learn more easily and eagerly. As Prof. Harold Edgerton (M.I.T.) once said: "The trick to teaching is to not let them know they're learning anything...until it's too late!"
For this program, the boat, Great American III, is owned by a separate organization, New Ocean Challenge, Inc. It has raised separate funds for the boat.
Donations to sitesALIVE Foundation, Inc. are therefore NOT used for the boat, but only to support the school program.
