Questions/Answers

Question asked by Kira:

Rich, in the ship's log you wrote about thunderheads. What are they, and are they dangerous?- Kira from Carolyn Sheild's classroom

Answer:

Thunderheads are huge clouds that are thunderstorms, which can contain within them lightning, high winds, hail, or rain. They can be very dangerous. They can become gigantic, and the ones that we saw that day were huge. It's impossible to describe the size. Although I was not in danger, the sheer size of the cloud made me feel very small out here on the ocean. You might think that a 60-foot boat is big, but not when you are sailing alone on the ocean!

Thanks for the question,

Rich
