Samuel Scott is the associate curator of the Russell W. Knight Department of the Maritime Art and History at the PEM.  He is the curator of To the Ends of the Earth: Painting the Polar Landscape, opening November 8, 2008.

During his time at the PEM, Mr. Scott was the curator of the 2006 exhibition Sketched at Sea, the 2005 exhibition Island Thresholds, Contemporary Art from the Caribbean, and co-curator of The Sea: Art and Experience and Seafaring Culture, ongoing in the Maritime Art galleries.  Mr. Scott continually promotes the museum as a venue and resource for education and participates in many programs, tours and teacher training seminars.  Previous to working at the Peabody Essex museum, Mr. Scott was the Curator of the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum on Long Island.  Mr. Scott graduated with a M.A. from Tufts University in History and Museum Studies in 1997.
